Doug Kurtock

Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, I started playing drums early.

My Father, a trumpet and French horn player, taught me the value of the “big band” sound and gave me countless recordings to practice.
 

In school I was able to get professional lessons and refine my style and musical ability.  Later, while performing in nightclubs, orchestras, supper clubs, parties and special events, I was exposed to some of the best talent Pittsburgh had to offer and became known as the “Fill-in Guy” and “Mr. One-Take” around town.

I married my high school sweetheart and raised two wonderful sons, also musicians.  After playing with several of my own bands, opportunity got me to Florida with the offer of playing cruise ships and disco night spots.

Recognizing the need to keep music as part of my life, I have been able to play with some of the greatest musicians and entertainers around.  In keeping with Big City Dogs, I have all anyone could ask.
